This documentary follows a daughter and her parents on the brink of a family breakdown. The daughter, now a hikikomori, was strictly disciplined by her parents from a young age, but bullying at her prestigious high school led to her refusing to go to school. She forgot how to smile, and the relationship between her and her parents deteriorated. She gradually became violent and began to self-harm.
